Women in Media (WIM) is a non-profit organization based in Hong Kong, founded in April 1999 by a group of female executives in the media industry.

Our mission is to promote the interests of women, highlight women's issues, help each other by building up relevant and useful networks among women in media, production, entertainment and related businesses. We encourage a personal approach so that our members can really benefit from getting to know each other.

Through the networks and contacts of members, we also aim to promote the understanding of media among the general public and to people wishing to enter this field.

Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, involved in management, business, legal, operations, marketing, agencies, on-air talents, front-line and behind-the-scenes in the fields of film, TV, music, print, broadcast and Internet media. Our Executive Committee consists of a diverse group of women who are influential in their fields and who are committed to advancing the interests of women in media and related industries. Activities range from interactive discussions on media-related topics with guest speakers and informative seminars to social gatherings, networking mixers, musical events, film screenings, art appreciation talks and community activities -- all organized to give members an opportunity to share experiences and interact with others with similar interests.

Other activities have included a panel conference/cocktail event on children's television, fund-raising and community event movie screenings, sponsored by Columbia Tri-Star; a classical music concert featuring local renowned violinist Chui-Tan Lee and pianist/harpist Chris Sidenius held in conjunction with Woodside, a former property of the Swire Sugar Factory during the early 1900s, cooking class at Gaia restaurant and a cool evening of networking at the chic LUX, a lifestyle concept store and bar. More on our events

Looking forward, we will continue our speaker series, regular social gatherings and collaborate with organizations in related fields to enhance external interest and promote our cause to the industry.

Teresa Norton is a sought-after executive coach and Asia's pioneer of theatrically directed corporate training. With over 20 years of professional theatre, broadcasting, advertising and international business experience, she has developed a unique coaching and training technique that focus on helping executives to overcome their communication challenges and surmount any career profession barriers by using theatre exercises to explore new approaches and role play simulation to practice and hone technique.

Teresa began her professional career in the  theatre singing with the San Francisco Spring Opera. Later, she left the Bay  Area and embarked on a lucrative career in commercial voice-overs for radio  and television commercials, which she continues to this day for clients  including Star TV, Miele, Mobil/Esso and McDonalds. Through a radio  career which took her from Honolulu to Hong Kong, Teresa hosted the breakfast show that pioneered Hong Kong's  first and highly acclaimed ‘intelligent bilingual presentation,'  on 104 FM Select.  Teresa  maintained her ties to professional theatre, featuring in numerous  professional productions, co-writing a series of satirical/ musical revues  and eventually forming her own theatre company, Caught in Act.
